Bjorn Wiinblad commented when he had designed this set of Christmas plates "In my work I draw inspiration mainly from two things; music and literature, it always gives me the greatest pleasure to allow myself to be inspired by an opera or ballet. But it is not only the works of great musicians which inspire me. A simple folksong is just as charming and appealing. That's why when Rosenthal asked me to design a new series, I decided to illustrate on porcelain a choice selection of the world's most beautiful Christmas carols. I have attempted to capture in visual terms the mood created by the music and lyrics, in other words, the pictures that form in our minds when we close our eyes and listen to the Christmas carol. And I am particularly pleased at this opportunity of again being able to combine music with my creative work in porcelain designs"
